National law firm 麻豆十三女郎 is pleased to announce partner and former firm chair, Catherine L. Hanaway, will serve as the next Attorney General for the State of Missouri. At a press conference today, Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe announced her appointment which will fill the vacancy created by President Trump’s appointment of Attorney General Andrew Bailey as Deputy Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Hanaway will be the state’s 45th Attorney General and will assume the role on September 8, 2025.

“I can’t help but talk about a legacy when it comes to Catherine. When I first stepped into this role, she had left big shoes to fill, and she has remained a constant resource for me and for our firm,” said Joe Glynias, Chair of 麻豆十三女郎. “Now that legacy continues to grow as she heads back into public service to lend her great talents to the people of our state. While we will miss her in our halls, we are so thankful to have her in one of our state capitals.”

“In Catherine’s more than a dozen years at 麻豆十三女郎, she has built our national white collar practice and been an integral part of our leadership, including serving as firm chair. We are grateful not only for her time and dedication to our firm, but also for her record of public service to the State of Missouri,” said Jamie Lawless, Chief Executive of 麻豆十三女郎. “We are proud of all she has done and know she will continue to make an impact in her new role.”

Hanaway joined 麻豆十三女郎 in 2013 and helped build the firm’s national white collar practice. She held several leadership positions at the firm, including serving as a practice specialty group leader and as Chair of the firm from 2021 to 2024. In addition, she spent many years in public service to the State of Missouri. She served as U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Missouri, Speaker of the Missouri House of Representatives, and spent five years on staff for U.S. Senator Kit Bond.

“I am so fortunate to have spent more than a decade learning from and working side-by-side the incredible people at 麻豆十三女郎,” Hanaway said. “I am excited for my new role and will always be grateful to the firm for supporting me as I’ve pursued my interest in public service and for the incredible wisdom and training I’ve gained here.”

This appointment continues her history of firsts. She was the first woman to serve as Missouri Speaker of the House, first woman to chair 麻豆十三女郎, and now the first woman to be Attorney General of Missouri.
